Free Vedic astrology tools

Calculators for the parts of a Vedic birth chart that clients ask about most, each with a plain explanation of what an astrologer reads from the result and what to ask about it in a consultation.

Every tool works the same way: you enter birth details, the page computes the placements in your browser, and the result appears under the form. Start with the three basics, Moon sign, birth star and lagna, because almost every other calculation is counted from one of them. The divisional charts, dasha periods, dosha checks and yogas build on those foundations.

Birth chart basics

The three anchors every Vedic reading starts from: Moon sign, birth star and rising sign.

  • Moon sign calculator

Your Vedic Moon sign from your date and time of birth, with the nakshatra and pada it falls in.

  • Nakshatra calculator

The birth star and quarter (pada) the Moon occupied when you were born, and its ruling planet.

  • Lagna (ascendant) calculator

The rising sign on the eastern horizon at birth, the starting point of every house in a Vedic chart.

Divisional charts

The finer charts an astrologer opens for marriage, career, family, property and more.

Planetary periods

Dasha systems that set out which planet's period you are in, and when the next begins.

Dosha checks

The two dosha checks clients ask about most, with what each tradition counts.

  • Mangal dosha calculator

Whether Mars sits in a house counted for Manglik status, from the ascendant, the Moon and Venus.

  • Kaal Sarp dosha calculator

Whether all seven planets fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis, and which of the twelve named forms that is.

Marriage matching

Ashtakoota points and the two factors families look at hardest before a wedding.

  • Kundli matching calculator

Ashtakoota guna milan out of 36 for two birth dates, koota by koota, with the Nadi and Bhakoot checks.

  • Nadi dosha calculator

The eight-point Nadi koota for two birth stars: whether both fall in the same nadi, and what that means in matching.

  • Rajju dosha calculator

The South Indian Rajju check: whether two birth stars fall in the same part of the body.

Karakas and special points

Jaimini significators and points an astrologer uses to read the soul, spouse, image and deity.

  • Atmakaraka calculator

The planet with the highest degree in its sign, read in Jaimini astrology as the soul's significator.

  • Darakaraka calculator

The planet with the lowest degree among the karakas, the Jaimini indicator of the spouse.

  • Arudha lagna calculator

The image point of the chart: how the world sees you, counted from the lagna lord's position.

  • Ishta devata calculator

The chosen deity indicated by the twelfth sign from the karakamsa (the Atmakaraka's Navamsa sign).

Yogas

Planetary combinations that astrologers check for status, wisdom and prosperity.

  • Raj yoga calculator

Kendra–trikona lord links in your chart, the combinations tradition calls royal yogas.

  • Gajakesari yoga calculator

Whether Jupiter stands in a kendra from the Moon (and from the lagna), with related Moon yogas checked alongside.

  • Lakshmi yoga calculator

The classical wealth yoga: the ninth lord in a kendra in its own, mulatrikona or exaltation sign, with seven related yogas.

Using these tools before a consultation

A reading goes further when the first fifteen minutes are not spent establishing basic facts. If you already know your Moon sign, nakshatra, lagna and current dasha, you can tell the astrologer straight away and move on to the question you came with. You will also notice sooner if their chart does not match yours, which usually means a different birth time, place or ayanamsa has crept in and is worth sorting out before anything else is said.

Treat a striking result with care. A Mangal dosha or Kaal Sarp finding, a missing yoga or a low matching score is one factor among many, and classical texts list exceptions and cancellations for most of them. Write the result down, take it to the consultation, and ask how the astrologer weighs it against the rest of the chart. If someone uses a single placement to frighten you into paying for an expensive remedy, our guide to warning signs of a fake astrologer explains what to look out for.

Birth time is the weak link in most charts. The ascendant, the houses and the lagna of every divisional chart, Navamsa included, depend on it, and some, such as the D60, change every couple of minutes. If your time is approximate, say so to the astrologer, and read our guide to getting your birth details right before relying on the finer charts.

Astrology is not professional advice

An astrologer can help you think about timing and choices, but not replace a doctor, lawyer, financial adviser or counsellor. If a question involves your health, money or safety, speak to the right professional as well.

Frequently asked questions

Are these tools really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no payment and no limit on how often you use them. They run in your browser, so there is nothing for us to charge for or to keep.

What birth details do I need?

Your date of birth for every tool. Most chart tools also need the time and place of birth, because the ascendant and the houses move about one sign every two hours. Each tool says which fields it needs, and the Moon sign and nakshatra tools can show a whole day when the time is unknown.

Which zodiac and ayanamsa do the tools use?

The sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the convention most Indian astrologers work with. Charts are geocentric, planetary positions are computed in the browser, and the Moon's position is the same on every tool, so the tools agree with one another.

Can a calculator replace a consultation?

No, and none of these pages tries to. A calculator finds a placement; an astrologer weighs dozens of placements against each other, against your dasha periods and against what you actually want to know. The tools are meant to help you arrive at a consultation knowing your basic chart facts and with sharper questions.

Do you store or share what I enter?

No. Nothing you type leaves your device: it is not sent to KundliTalk, not saved in your browser and not put into the page address.
